Zpacks Free Duo Tent

The Zpacks Free Duo Tent is a freestanding 2-person shelter that departs from the usual Zpacks trekking-pole design in favor of a dedicated arched frame made from two Easton Carbon 6.3 carbon poles (365 g). Fly and floor are both DCF, the bathtub floor has 15 cm walls, and the 852 g total works out to 426 g per person — heavier than Zpacks's pure trekking-pole tents, but with the freestanding trade-off in its favor. The floor measures 229×107 cm, the inner is full nano-noseeum mesh, and two vestibules with four doors allow independent entry from either side; two interior pockets hold small items. Six guy-out points and eight stakes help stabilize the tent in wind, and seams come factory-taped. Freestanding construction suits ground where stakes bite poorly — rock slabs, wooden tent platforms, sand — or trips where trekking poles aren't carried. The price for that versatility is the added pole weight compared with non-freestanding DCF tents in the same category.
