Description
The Zpacks Pivot Solo is a one-person tarp-style tent in Dyneema Composite Fabric (both fly and floor), pitched with trekking poles, at a packaged weight of 379 g. What sets it apart from a standard single-pole trekking-pole tent is a second, pivoting pole at the rear corner, which opens up extra head and foot room without adding the bulk of a full second upright — the design is rated to fit hikers up to about 195 cm.
As a 3-season, single-occupant shelter, it's built for solo thru-hikers and ultralight backpackers on established trails rather than winter trips or heavily exposed terrain, where a non-freestanding trekking-pole tent offers less structure than a freestanding design. For taller hikers who've found standard solo trekking-pole tents cramped at the ends, the pivoting pole is the main reason to choose this over a simpler single-pole shelter.
