The Exped Ultra 5R is a rectangular ultralight air pad rated for 4-season use, winter included. Insulation is 160 g/m² Texpedloft microfiber welded to the air chambers with vertical internal baffles, giving an R-value of 4.8 under ASTM F3340-18 — enough margin for sleeping well below freezing.
At 584 g for the 183 × 52 cm size (7.6 cm thick), that works out to roughly 122 g per R-point, a solid figure at this insulation level and one that puts the pad in range for winter thru-hiking as well as regular off-season weekend trips. It packs to 31 × 13 cm — bulkier than a tapered mummy pad, but the rectangular shape gives back shoulder and hip room inside the sleeping bag. Top and bottom fabrics are recycled 20D ripstop polyester, Oeko-Tex 100 certified.
Multi-function valves allow fast inflation and controlled deflation; the package includes a Schnozzel Pumpbag, stuff sack, and repair kit. The pad is bluesign certified, PFC-free, and comes with a 5-year warranty.
