Sea To Summit Escapist™ 15D Tarp Medium

The Escapist 15D Tarp Medium is a versatile shelter for one or two hikers, made from lightweight 15D nylon with a Sil/PU coating rated to a 1,200 mm hydrostatic head. At 5.2 m² of coverage and 270 g, it offers solid protection at a weight comparable to similarly sized ultralight tarps, without going to the extreme end of dyneema fabric. Eight Hypalon-reinforced tie-out points hold up to pitching in stronger wind without tearing at the attachment points. Colour-coded guylines speed up pitching in low light or when rain is closing in, and compatibility with the optional Bug Tent insert lets you convert the bare tarp into a fully enclosed, insect-proof shelter when the trail calls for it. Trekking poles or separate tent poles are required to pitch it, as the tarp itself is non-freestanding. It's a flexible, fast-pitch option for 3-season backpacking, aimed at hikers who prefer an open tarp setup over a fully enclosed tent.
