Gossamer Gear The DCF One

The Gossamer Gear The DCF One is a single-wall, one-person trekking-pole shelter (poles not included). Its fly is built from DCF (Dyneema Composite Fabric), a laminate valued for high tensile strength and inherent waterproofness — which is why Gossamer Gear doesn't quote a conventional hydrostatic-head rating for it, unlike the silnylon floor. That floor is a 7D SilNylon ripstop bathtub with a silicone/PU coating, and all seams are factory taped. Minimum trail weight is 433 g; with the full stake and guyline set (6 aluminum DAC Y-stakes, reflective guylines) it comes to 525 g. Floor area is 1.41 m², and the single 0.93 m² vestibule brings total living space to 2.34 m². Peak height of 114 cm is enough to sit up. Being a non-freestanding A-frame design, it depends entirely on taut stakes and firm ground — pitching gets harder on rock or loose sand where stakes don't bite well. That trade-off suits thru-hikers and ultralight backpackers chasing a low base weight over setup flexibility; anyone camping mostly on hardpan or platforms should weigh the limitation carefully.
