The Mountain Hardwear Meridian 2 Tent is a freestanding, double-wall dome built for 3-season backpacking and mountaineering use by two people. Two aluminum poles pitch the partial-mesh inner first, and the 68D ripstop polyester fly, PU-coated to 1500 mm and factory taped at the seams, goes up over it – a straightforward, field-tested setup rather than a fast-pitch ultralight system. Floor space works out to 3 m² (218 x 137 cm), with a 112 cm peak height and two vestibules totaling 1.7 m², giving each occupant roughly 1.5 m² of living space and a generous 57% vestibule-to-floor ratio for gear storage – useful for cooking outside the inner tent or stashing wet boots. The bathtub floor carries the same 68D polyester with PU coating, and five interior pockets help organize small items. Trail weight is 2078 g, rising to 2437 g packed – reasonable for a freestanding 2-person shelter but above ultralight benchmarks, a trade-off for the sturdier pole structure and included footprint. Best suited to weekend and multi-day trips where reliability and space outweigh shaving grams.
