Mountain Hardwear Strato UL 2 Tent

The Mountain Hardwear Strato UL 2 is a semi-freestanding, double-wall tent built explicitly for ultralight backpacking and thru-hiking, with a single DAC Featherlight NFL pole and a unified pitch-together setup that speeds camp setup. At a minimum weight of 1051 g (1154 g packaged) it splits to roughly 525 g per person for two hikers sharing the load — competitive for a double-wall design that still offers a separate mesh inner for condensation management. The 20D silicone-coated nylon fly (1200mm hydrostatic head) and 30D silicone-coated floor (1500mm) favor low weight over the higher waterproof ratings of heavier expedition fabrics, the expected trade-off for a three-season UL tent rather than an all-weather shelter. Floor area is a modest 2.9 m² with a 99 cm peak height — enough for two sleeping pads and gear inside the vestibule, not a tent for sitting up comfortably. Two doors and one vestibule keep entry and exit practical for two occupants sharing tight quarters, and the partial mesh inner balances ventilation against wind protection on exposed ridgelines.
