The Tarptent AEON Li is a single-wall, solo half-pyramid shelter pitched with a single trekking pole, making it one of the simpler setups in the ultralight category. The fly is made from 0.51 oz/sqyd Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF), with a heavier 1.0 oz DCF floor for better abrasion resistance against the ground. Full weight is 548 g, dropping to 448 g in the minimum trail configuration — unlike silnylon, DCF does not stretch when wet, so the fly holds its tension through rain without needing the stakes re-tensioned.
A 119 cm peak height leaves enough room to sit up, and the single door opens into a 0.75 m² front vestibule, large enough to stash a pack and boots outside the sleeping area. The 224 x 76 cm floor plan is narrow, in line with a no-frills one-person layout. Packed, the tent compresses to a 36 x 10 cm cylinder. Its "3-season extended" rating suggests it holds up in cooler shoulder-season conditions, though it remains a single-wall design without the separate mesh inner that double-wall tents use for condensation management.
