Zpacks Triplex Tent

The Zpacks Triplex is a single-wall, three-person trekking-pole shelter built from Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF) across both the fly and the bathtub floor, giving a fully waterproof, non-breathable pitch. It uses an A-frame ridge design supported by two trekking poles instead of dedicated tent poles, so it is non-freestanding and depends on its 8 included stakes and guylines to hold shape. At a minimum trail weight of 612 g — about 204 g per person for three occupants — it undercuts most double-wall three-person tents by a wide margin, though DCF shelters trade that weight for a higher price and less abrasion resistance than nylon fabrics. Two D-shaped storm doors and two vestibules give each side independent entry and gear storage, useful when three people share 3.48 m² of bathtub floor (1.16 m² per person) under a 122 cm peak height. Seams come factory-taped rather than requiring field sealing, and the inner mesh is partial rather than full — a trade that favors warmth and weather protection over maximum ventilation, reasonable for 3-season thru-hiking use.
