The Mountain Hardwear AC 2 Tent is a freestanding single-wall 2-person shelter rated 4-season/expedition — built for high-altitude mountaineering and winter conditions rather than casual summer trekking. The Evolution Tension Arch design uses aluminum DAC Featherlight NSL poles in a geodesic layout that resists wind loading and snow weight well. At 1811 g (1562 g in minimum configuration), it's not a light tent for two, but the specs reflect durability priorities: a 50D fly rated to 10,000mm and a 30D floor rated to 4,000mm are chosen for toughness, not for shaving grams. Floor area of 2.35 m² and a 111 cm peak height give two occupants reasonable room with gear inside — there's no vestibule, so everything has to live in the sleeping area or under the fly's edge. Seams come factory-taped, and the tent has only two vents, which on a single-wall design means a trade-off between cold protection and airflow.
